A Girl in the World

Do What You Love

January 15, 2012

I’ve been obsessed with the Holstee Manifesto since it started circulating the net last year.  They just came out with a wonderful video and I’m posting it below.  I’m so thankful for companies, like Holstee, who force us to examine our lives and inspire us to make the most of our precious time here.

Hey Denise!
You probably don’t remember me, but I met you a few times back when you were at UBC. I’m Jenny Dix-Cooper’s friend, Adam. I think we all went skiing together, once. Anyways, LOVE your blog. Jenny told me to check it out when I started travelling 4 months ago, and I’ve been following it ever since. The movie above…thank you so much for sharing it. Travelling has made me question all sorts of things, especially, “Why am I travelling?” I still haven’t quite figured it out, yet, but I feel like I’m close. And I firmly believe in doing what you love…otherwise, what’s the point? Keep on loving life!

Adam!! Of course I remember you! I actually looked you up a few weeks ago and discovered that you’re on an amazing biking adventure! Congratulations. I’m so happy for you and so curious about how the journey is going so far. I totally understand when you say that you’re not really sure why you decided to travel, you just know that you had to. I felt the same way when I spent some time off a few years ago. Sometimes the soul just needs to explore. The amazingness of it all won’t really reveal itself until much much later. =) I will follow your blog. Keep writing. And stay in touch. How long are you planning on being on the road for?

Hi Denise, I love your blog. The pictures are truly amazing and your travels really inspire me to go after my dreams! I am from Iran and I would love to travel to the places you have been. Your pictures are sooo life like, although I have never been to the places in your photographs, I feel that I am actually there…. One of my dreams is to travel to South America to experience the Latin culture…. keep on writing, and I am looking forward to reading your blog… I wish I have to courage to drop everything I do now and follow my heart like you did…..

Hi Negar. Thank you so much for reaching out. I’m humbled to learn that you’ve been inspired by my blog. Know that being able to go some place new just because you want to is completely possible. All it takes is some smart planning, a leap of faith and a positive attitude. Life is short. Follow that ache in your heart and don’t deny yourself that dream. You have no idea what other doors will open up when you do. All the best Negar.

Blessings,
Denise
